AdLib

Another Restaurant Week...

Restaurant week once again and this time I went to AdLib (Sofitel hotel, Avenida da Liberdade).

This restaurant was on my list for a while but I never had the chance to try it.

There are a lot of good restaurants at Avenida da Liberdade (the most expensive avenue in Portugal)... and this one is one of them.

The restaurant is very classy... mixing the modern with tradition... with  great advantage of having an exterior entrance... which mean that you don't have enter in the hotel to go to the restaurant.

Let's talk about the food...

I bring you 3 starters... 3 main courses and 3 desserts.

Starters...

"Vinyl" (Veal, tuna, capers and watercress) - My least favorite of the starters. It was good but since I try more, this one was the least impressive... nevertheless the meat was very tender and the combination of flavors was very good... a classic combination.

"Horta" (Peas, bacon and Roquefort) - The most tasteful and delicious of the three... it was amazing, with a simple presentation (some times less is more).

"Picknick" (Egg 63.5, crunchy onions and potatoes, Salmon) - this dish was presented just like a picnic... in a little basket and with all the components. A really cool presentation.

Main courses...

"Tweety" (Chicken, polenta, pie, mozzarella and curry) - my least favorite. The chicken was very simple and lacking flavour, when compared with the others.

"Moby Dick" (Codfish, vegetables coral and seafood foam) - A really good dish combined with a great presentation. The fish was really well made and the vegetables were tender. To be perfect the dish doesn't needed the eggplant.

"Schwammerl" (Ceps, Champignons, Portobello, Chanterelle and Bread pastel) - One of the best dishes that I ever ate. Rich mushroom flavor with an amazing sauce (like a soup) and the bread pastel inside (giving some consistency to the dish and a different texture). It was served in a little pot...

Desserts...

"Moulin Rouge" (Strawberries, meringue and couli) - strawberry slush/ice-cream with meringue on top.

"55%" (Chocolate and vanilla twice) - Chocolate mousse cake with vanilla ice-cream and vanilla sauce.

"Sweet Dreams" (Pina Colada and coriander) - served like a cocktail, this dessert is a very interesting combination of flavor but since I already tried another dessert with this flavors... I have to say that this one was least interesting of them.
