Nobre Estoril

If you are in Estoril and you try your luck at the Casino there only one place to eat... Nobre Estoril to enjoy this environment. This restaurant is located inside of the Casino of Estoril... a mix between the traditional Portuguese food and the lights and exuberance of a Casino.

In all the reviews that I read, all of them talk about the fact that the restaurant doesn't have a view to the street only to the inside of the Casino... I my response to that is "who cares!!! I don't"... if you want a outside-view the chef has another restaurant in Lisbon... go there instead...

About the restaurant... the space is small (very cozy) and the best thing you have to do is a reservation... beside the staff always reserve the best tables for those who do it.

Regarding the food...

We start with the classic couvert of bread, butter and olive oil. The bread was good but nothing special and the butter was a disappointment (they serve that small packets of plastic with butter).

But the worst thing was the water plastic bottles... plastic! for a restaurant with a famous Portuguese chef you expect another type of attention to this kind of details.

For the starters we choose "Peixinhos da Horta" (deep fried green-beans, similar to tempura)... Outstanding! Divine!... Very well made, not greasy and served with a coriander mayo... great combination... something that I strongly advice.

The main dishes... something very hard to choose!... all I wanted was to order everything... due to the fact that all the dishes are traditional Portuguese dishes combined with the amazing skill of the chef... killing combination... But I had to choose and the lucky ones were "Polvo à Lagareiro" (octopus)  and Roast-beef Nobre Estoril.

Regarding the octopus... It was very average! I was expected something much more exciting! although it was very tender.

But the Roast-beef was perfect! very tasty... with an amazing sauce... and mashed spinach that surprised me.

After this it was dessert time (always my favorite part) and with one of the best moments of the dinner... one of the best chocolate cakes that I ate.

The other dessert was a trilogy of Portuguese desserts... apple tart, "Farófias" and "Pudim de Abade"

The final judge... great food but with a few thing to work on.
