Moules & gin is one of the three restaurant of this type in Lisbon.
Moules & Wine (The Father - located in Lisbon - LX Factory)
Moules & Gin (The older Brother - Located in Cascais)
Moules & Beer (The Younger Brother - Located in Lisbon - Campo de Ourique)
I give them this designation due to the drink that follow the moules.
As you already notice the moules are the star of this restaurant... based on a traditional Belgian dish... the moules are becoming very popular and the best part is that you can eat them with your hand (the best way and the only way for me)... The first time that I try this dish, as a dish, was in Belgium and even there ate them with my hand...
They also have a few meat dishes (two to be precise...) but the specialty is the moules and as you can see in his name the gin is also king.
So, we start with little starter... salmon tartar, tuna tartar and moules vinaigrette. I have to say that the vinaigrette was amazing... very simple, well balanced and delicious. the salmon and the tune were good but nothing special about it.
For the main dishes we choose:
Moules "à Bulhão Pato" (with the traditional coriander sauce and lemon) - very clean and simple... the simplest dishes are those who best show the quality and freshness of the products.
Moules Meuniére (classic Belgian sauce with creams)... about this one! the sauce very Yummy.
About this two dishes... god size, fresh products (in fact we saw the moules arriving!!) but there was a little problem that could had ruined the lunch... a couple of the moules had sand.
the third dish thet we tried was "Picadinho do Lombo"... beef chopped in little pieces with fries (in fact all the dish come with fries) and three sauces (mustard, chili and tartar).
Dessert: chocolate cheese-cake.
Overall it was a pleasant lunch... and the service was very nice and friendly... a great place to go with friends... very casual and relax.
