Apicius

My first Foodie Meetup with Zomato...

For those who doesn't know Zomato an online platform where you can find the restaurants around you and, after you visit them, you can write your opinion about it.

So in the other they invited a group of foodies, including me, to have dinner at Apicius... and the theme of the dinner was FOIE GRAS... Luxury =P.

The food wasn't made just for us... They served us dishes that they have in their current menu... Since the all purpose of this meetup was to shoe us this new restaurant and his menu.

The restaurant has a really cool vibe, very relaxed and its very well decorated.

So about the food...

We start with a couvert with bread of "Mafra" (typical bread) with two types of butter. The first one: Almond butter... that's right almond!!! the first time that I tried something like this and I loved. It’s very different and creative and it fit with the rest of the menu.
The second one: coriander and garlic butter. This one i didn't like so much for one reason... lacking salt. But I liked the idea of mixing this two flavors and toasted bread.

After this came the foi gras...

The starter...

"Au Torchon" with toasted brioche and spices... and the first dish couldn't be better! I don't eat foie gras every single day... but if I did this one could be a great choice. Its not heavy and the combination with the spices... is genius... Specially with the pink pepper.

The main course was escalope of foie gras with mashed beet and crumble of cacao. Regarding this dish I thing the combination of the flavors was a little bit strong. The rich flavor of the foie gras with the earthy flavor of the beet and the cacao... to much strong! However, tasting each element separately... yes... Very good indeed! All very well seasoned.

But the high point of the night was yet to come... the dessert. The only dish That wasn't on the menu. It was like a concept test... They served us this dessert to see if it was well accepted...

What a crime! this dessert should have a permanent place on the menu... Its so good.

The dessert was: yogurt cream with foie gras, toasted almonds and honey. The dessert from heaven.
