I liked a lot and it didn't disappoint.
Since it is a new space the opinions are a little bit divergent... so I
will give mine.
Starting with the location! This restaurant
has, definitely, one of the best location of Lisbon (with a great view
over one of the most famous and recognized Squares of Portugal), but with the
location came a lot of competition.
For me this space has the disadvantage of belonging
to a hotel, which means that a person needs to enter in the hotel to go
there... which can be a lit bit intimidating... But not for me =D since the day
one that I wanted to go there.
The space is very cool and
smartly decorated... different chair in every table, pop-art pictures and a
trendy bar the back of the room.
About the food...
We start with an amuse-bouche complementary of the
chef... gazpacho with octopus! GREAT GREAT GREAT... a lot of flavor.
The starter:
Pica Peixe ("peixinhos de horta",
"pasteis de bacalhau" -codfish cake- and quail egg - this is one of
this dishes that i strongly advice you to try. Every component was
beautifully made.
Main dishes:
"Scrooge McDuck " (Chicken pastries , foie
gras, shiitake mushrooms and watercress) -the pastel was very tasty but
not extraordinary; the highlight of the dish goes to the foie gras, which was
formidable and very well cooked without excesses regarding the seasoning. I
also loved the cherry sauce which gives the dish something different.
"The House Steak" (steak, fried egg and a
lot of sauce with fried potatoes) - A very simple dish with a simple steak...
Not the best that I tried. The perfect dish for those who don't like to take to
many risks.
"Mr. Piggy" (Slow cooked pork belly,
parsnip, vindaloo and tamarillo) - The best of all. The meat was tender and
melted with every bite and the sauce and all the other ingredients made
this dish something to remember.
Dessert:
Baltazar and Belimunda (chocolate cream, chocolate
ice-cream, caramel, hazelnuts, raspberries and sponge cake). This dessert was a
little bit inconsistent... some of the components were really good, but the
othres were a little bit flat. The highlights: cake, chocolate ice-cream and
the caramel (but it doesnt look homemade). The less good Components: the
raspberries (frozen), chocolate crumble, chocolate cream (little chocolate
flavor and a texture close tho the caramel and I expected something closer to a
mousse).
In general It’s a very nice place with great food and with a lot of
potential to became a reference in Lisbon.
