Bastardo


Bastardo restaurant is located at Rossio Square, Lisbon.

This restaurant belongs to the International Design Hotel.
I liked a lot and it didn't disappoint. Since it is a new space the opinions are a little bit divergent... so I will give mine. 

Starting with the location! This restaurant has, definitely, one of the best location of Lisbon (with a great view over one of the most famous and recognized Squares of Portugal), but with the location came a lot of competition. 

For me this space has the disadvantage of belonging to a hotel, which means that a person needs to enter in the hotel to go there... which can be a lit bit intimidating... But not for me =D since the day one that I wanted to go there.  

The space is very cool and smartly decorated... different chair in every table, pop-art pictures and a trendy bar the back of the room.

ENTRA

























A restaurant located in industrial area of Marvila. Restaurant ENTRA serves amazing food, in a very relax space with an exquisite service.  


It's true that the area is not the best... but I don't care! I only care about the food that they served... and they served us consistent food through the entire meal.

Even with the complete restaurant booked... you don't see the staff run over each other.

A Reitoria



Restoria is restaurant located in Oporto (Praça de Gomes Teixeira).

This restaurant was a complete surprise! From the outside you can't guess the type of restaurant that it is.

In the ground floor you eat this good looking gourmet sandwiches... Good looking because I didn't try it... I preferred to go upstairs and try the restaurant... The restaurant is minimalist, very clean and small... which makes it very exclusive and selective.

The food was very very good...

O Antigo Carteiro


































O Antigo Carteiro was an unexpected choice... and Why?


So I was exploring all this non-touristic street and after walking a lot (and I mean A LOT!!!!!!), the time passed so fast that when look to the clock it was time to lunch (and also my stomach was telling me that for awhile) and I stopped in front of this restaurant (an old building but with a really modern sign...) but I didn't pay to much attention until this guy tell us that the restaurant is very good (by the way... the guy works at the restaurant, but we didn't know at the time).

We decided to try it... GOOD CHOICE!

The food was very tasteful.

Volver by Chakall


don't know why! But I took a while to go to this restaurant... I only heard the best comments e reviews about it... Thanks to Zomato the wait is over.


Volver by Chakall is this incredible restaurant known for its amazing meat.   


My expectations were on the roof.


The restaurant its not located in the city center but has the plus of having a lot of parking! A great plus!...

Apicius


My first Foodie Meetup with Zomato...


For those who doesn't know Zomato an online platform where you can find the restaurants around you and, after you visit them, you can write your opinion about it.

So in the other they invited a group of foodies, including me, to have dinner at Apicius... and the theme of the dinner was FOIE GRAS... Luxury =P.

The food wasn't made just for us... They served us dishes that they have in their current menu... Since the all purpose of this meetup was to shoe us this new restaurant and his menu.

The restaurant has a really cool vibe, very relaxed and its very well decorated.

So about the food...

Favas Contadas 3rd edition - 3 chefs

The restaurant Conceito Food Store is celebrating it's 3rd anniversary and what a better way than with a Favas Contadas event.


For this event Chef Daniel Estriga (owner of Conceito Food Store) invited Nelson Guerreiro (from Enotéca Belém) to do the wine pairing, Pastry Chef Gonçalo Morgado (from Oitavos Hotel) for the dessert and the Chef Manuel Line (and his team), and together they created one of the most amazing dinner that I had. 


About the last one... I start following his work since his project at Jour to Cook (at Com.horta, Comporta) and I get even more excited when I saw the dishes that he presented at CNC (Congresso Nacional de Cozinheiros) - The National Congress of Chefs... So I don't need to say that when I saw he was one of the chefs invited for this dinner I had to booked immediately.  


He likes to present simple food but very creative and with a lot of flavor... And the best part is that they will open a restaurant, in Avenida da Liberdade, called TABIK... (I can't wait to go there).

So for this dinner, they used, mainly, seasonal products floating between the sea and earth in a really clever way.

So let's see the food...

Cafetaria Mensagem - Altis Belém Hotel and Spa



Finally I when to Cafetaria Mensagem... 

Cafetaria Mensagem is one of the restaurants of Altis Belem Hotel & SPA.

This hotel has 1 michelin star restaurant, Feitoria Restaurant and Wine bar (headed by Chef João Rodrigues) - Also on my wishlist - So you could say that Cafetaria Mensagem is "the little brother" with a lot of potential.

The restaurant is located between Padrão dos Descobrimentos and Torre de Belém, with an amazing view over Tagus river. The space is very simple and not overdecorated.

Since it is integrated in a 5-star hotel, the service is impeccable.

This restaurant is famous for it's Brunches but deserve must more.

So let's talk about the food...

Sea Me - Peixaria Moderna is a really cool restaurant dedicated to the fish.

Lisbon downtown has the most amazing restaurant and this one is one of them.

Fully dedicated to the fish the restaurant present three different concepts in one place...

AdLib


Another Restaurant Week... 



Restaurant week once again and this time I went to AdLib (Sofitel hotel, Avenida da Liberdade).


This restaurant was on my list for a while but I never had the chance to try it.

There are a lot of good restaurants at Avenida da Liberdade (the most expensive avenue in Portugal)... and this one is one of them.


The restaurant is very classy... mixing the modern with tradition... with  great advantage of having an exterior entrance... which mean that you don't have enter in the hotel to go to the restaurant.

's a Cafe/Pastry Shop located at Principe Real next to the National Museum of Natural History, Lisbon.


It's very discrete and quiet but the best part is the terrace in the back... And Why?... Because the terrace confines with the Lisbon University' Botanical Garden thats why...

Atalho Real


ATALHO Real is a restaurant located at Principe Real.

The restaurant makes part of the project Embaixada concept Store ( an old building that was refurbished and has this really different stores).

This restaurant is the perfect place for meat lovers... and why? because it's specialty in the Meat... they are like a butcher... different types of meat for all kinds of people... 

I know!... We all have that friend who doesn't eat meat! Right... but they also have vegetarian dish, so you have no excuses. Go there and try it.

Amburgaria & Pregaria Tradicional

Amburgaria is this new place in Setúbal, located at Avenida Luisa Tody (the main avenue of Setúbal).

Setúbal is a region of fish... meaning that the specialty is the fish... all kinds in every way possible (but the best one is: fried cuttlefish and grilled fish).








Amburgaria & Pregaria Tradicional is a restaurant that serve, specially, burgers... and different burgers.

FINALLY... With this restaurant Setúbal  gain an alternative beside the fish (that I love by the way =P)

The place is very clean and very well decorated... keeping some traditional features inside.

There is nothing better then gathering a few close friends and go to nice restaurant to eat.


So we went to Restaurante Navegante at Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel in Cascais.

Favas Contadas 2.0 - Appearances can be deceiving


What to say about a dinner made by pastry chefs... On the 22 and 23 of August, at Conceito Food Store restaurant (driven by the Chef Daniel Estriga) , took place the second dinner of Favas Contadas. This event has as main goal to promote the work of young chefs.

I have to say that it was an outstanding dinner... full of surprises!!!! 



In this this dinner most of the dishes resembled a dessert or a sweet... and all of them were followed by this amazing cocktail created by "Ás de Copos" bar. 

Needless to say that the expectations were high due the success of the first event.

As I mentioned in the previews post the chefs were:

  • Chef Diogo Lopes (pastry Chef)
  • Sara Soares (Pastry Chef)
  • Zé Pedro (Pastry Chef)

Favas Contadas 2.0

So do you remember my last post about the restaurant Conceito Food Store (if you don't... go check it! it's worth it)...

In that post I wrote about the dinner that they planned called " Two nights in Japan", the first one integrated in the "Favas Contadas", which, by the way, was a success... two nights completely sold out...

A second event is coming! and this time it looks even better... You want to know why? Because this dinner will be prepared only by pastry chefs!!!!... This can only mean one thing... I will fulfill one of my childhood dreams... DESSERT FOR DINNER!!

In this post I will talk about another food experience that I had... This time at 1300 Taberna.


This restaurant is located in one of the most amazing places of Lisbon... The LX FACTORY a recovered industrial area with a lot of new restaurants, shops, bar, etc...


This space is very cool and very different... with an open kitchen, excellent food and a very different decoration.

Gadanha Mercearia

My lunch at Gadanha Mercearia...

Gadanha Mercearia is this amazing restaurant located in Estremoz, Alentejo, that serves beautiful and delicious food, made with top products, in a bohemian environment. In the center of the village, this is one of the best places to eat.


The master mind behind the kitchen is Chef Michele Marques... who gives a new twist to traditional products.

Tasca da Esquina



If you are looking for traditional food with a little twist you have to go to Tasca da Esquina, their food is amazing and very tasty. You will find a menu with traditional dishes, tavern's style.


The restaurant is very small so make reservations or arrive early hoping to have a table available. The space is very peculiar... they almost like two distinct room:


  • Room tavern's style: high tables with matching seats.
  • Traditional room: much more like a normal restaurant.    

 We stay at the Room tavern's style which is much more close to the kitchen and where you can see the Chef working.

O Talho

A few weeks ago and after trying to book a table several times at O Talho I finally got lucky and got it XD... this time not for dinner but for lunch.




This restaurant is a space exclusively dedicated to the wonders of meat. They have a butcher in the restaurant where you can buy different types of meat, including the same kind of meat that they serve... Basically they have a mini grocery store in the restaurant's entrance where um can buy wine (good wine), homemade chips, meat (of course), condiments. etc...

Conceito Food Store

In the other day I went to an event called "Duas Noites no Japão" that makes part of the project Favas Contadas at the restaurant Conceito Food Store.


This dinner was organized by the young Chef Daniel Estriga. This Chef gathered a couple of young Chefs (friends of him) and created an outstanding dinner inspired in the Japanese culture... and I have to tell you in advance that the food was amazing, well executed... in fact flawless and very creative and innovative... due to the free spirit of the chefs... Despite their ages they showed great professionalism and great technique... The chefs involved were: Chef Daniel Estriga, Chef Will Araujo, Chef Tiago Penão and the Pastry Chef Diogo Lopes.

So... I love food and I love to take pictures of everything... And I asked myself... Why not combine both? 

Eu adoro comer e sempre gostei de tirar fotografias... E então questionei-me... Porque não combinar os dois?
